Over the past decades, electronics recycling and data destruction have come a very long way. When METech Recycling Inc. was created in 1968, personal computers were a thing of the distant future, as were printers , document scanners, videocassette recorders, compact discs and DVDs. Although transistors existed, many homes still had massive record players and radios with vacuum tubes. Color television sets were being sold, but they were extremely expensive, and families were content to keep using their large, cathode rays tubes black and white televisions, and cell phones were something you’d see on science fiction shows, certainly not in real life.

It is almost half a century later, and the world is a very different place. Cumbersome televisions sets have been replaced by sleek flat screens, Cassette tapes recorders have come and gone. Instantaneous communication is everywhere. Smartphones, tablets, laptops and other devices connect us with one another anywhere in the world.
